5 reviews for Bulleit Bourbon 10 Year Old 70cl
This is a really tough one as I really like this bourbon and think if it was in the £30 range would be a 5 star offering. But as it’s £40 that puts it in the same price range as the excellent woodford double oaked and so it has to loose a star.
Tastes like bottles much more expensive
To the nose, I could pick up on a fruity aroma, along with strong hints of vanilla and subtle tones of oak. I’ve actually been practising my nose for wines and whisky. I was pleasantly surprised when I came here and looked up the palate only to find; I was spot on. This really doesn’t burn to my taste, compared to other reviews, I found that this particular tipple is actually rather smooth. Having tasted everything from Nikka, Four Roses, Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Macallan (12 year), Suntory toki and Suntory Hibiki. This definitely benefits from a decent % ABV, but it doesn’t sting like some of the styles you can get. This to me, feels smooth, flavourful and rich. Take time with it, use your nose for the first 20 minutes and just let it breath, then once you’ve sampled the aromatics, add a single (small) shard of ice to slowly lower the temperature and sip slowly.
Sweet, oakey, spicy.
A complex nose but hard to separate. Not a fan of this whisky, as it has a long slow burn that covers over the fruit finish.
