Midleton Very Rare Barry Crockett Legacy
Released in 2011, Midleton Very Rare Barry Crockett Legacy edition was named after the distillery’s master distiller, and it is aged in both bourbon and new American oak barrels! Very interesting indeed and a limited release of around 2,500 bottles per year.

OK, let’s start at the top: £150 in the UK which is about $200. What do you get for your money? Well, first there is a very well made box, a coffin to hold the bottle in place. Oh, you want to know what the whiskey tastes like? Well, in my opinion, rather rough at first taste without water. Then, after a drop of H2O, a smooth, tasty, full-flavoured mouthful with a great lingering after-taste delighting my palate. This is such a good whiskey that I could imagine having one glass and no more as a digestif; well, more likely, two glasses of delight. But the price! Even as a fan of whiskey I could not imagine spending this much (although I have been fortunate enough to be given it as a present). And, for what it is worth, the BC Legacy is a monotone and I could buy wonderful complex Scottish malts for a lot less money.
Stunning, top class offering by the Master himself
Beyond anything I’ve ever tasted. Heaven on earth, pure perfection. I don’t have enough praise for it. Superb excellence!
If there is a better whiskey out there then I haven’t tried it! Perfect in every way, the complexity hits you from all sides leaving you wanting more with each sip.
Absolutely distinctive taste right from the start. Smooth and interesting as one savours the uniqueness of this blend. Quite a feat for a blended Irish whiskey. We purchased this bottle as a group of 4 and hands down we all agreed that we got great value. We discovered it at a scotch tasting evening and never looked back. Kudos to Middleton!
